Award-winning acoustic duo to perform at Gavioli on Tuesday, July 8th

Award-winning singer/songwriters Dave Falk and Lisa Housman make up the acoustic duo "Sweet Wednesday", delivering tales that are melodic, comic, and touching, with acoustic guitar, harmonica, and astounding harmonies.

The duo has toured in England, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, and across the U.S. Currently, they are touring in support of their newest release "Wherever You Go", which features backing performances by roots rock/alt country legends the Swinging Steaks.

Characters that make appearances in Sweet Wednesday's songs include a grandmother with a secret crush on James Bond, a traveling dog, and some rats named Grumpy, Sleepy, and Sister Heartache.

Sweet Wednesday brings their unique blend of folk/rock to Eureka Springs on Tuesday, July 8th, at 7 p.m., for a performance as part of the Americana Concerts Music Series at Gavioli Chapel.

Americana House Concert with Uncle Monk 6-19

June 19th come and see our third Americana House Concert at the 1901 Gavioli Chapel. This is an all ages show, with a $12 cover featuring Uncle Monk;

Uncle Monk is an alt-country/indie-bluegrass duo featuring Tommy Ramone on vocals, mandolin, guitar, banjo and dobro, and Claudia Tienan on vocals, guitar and bass. Uncle Monk's music is rooted in old-time and bluegrass influences. To this mix they have added unique musical textures to create a sound with a new sensibility. Tommy Ramone began his musical career as Tom Erdelyi an engineer at the Record Plant recording studios. In the musical doldrums of the 70's he, along with the great Johnny, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone, formed the rock group Ramones and participated in the birth of New Wave, Punk Rock, and Alternative music. As manager, producer and drummer for the band, Tommy Ramone helped create the sound, style and ideology for what was to become modern rock. Claudia Tienan, formerly with the group The Simplistics, is a partner with Tommy Ramone in Uncle Monk. Her penetrating lyrics and haunting vocals add facets and dimension to the songs. The music of the two artist complement each other. There is a Yin and Yang sensibility at work, a touch of light and dark, of bitter and sweet.

Dance In The Park After Dark with porterdavis!

RAIN OR SHINE THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! If it does rain we will move things inside to the Basin Park Hotel Ballroom. It's still a free show for all ages so we hope you make it up!

Come Dance in Basin Spring Park After Dark with us on Friday June 13th! We will be featuring porterdavis for this free show from 8 pm to 10 pm. Here is a little background on them;

This ain't your run-of-the-mill blues trio. It might even surprise you that the soulful musical texture flowing from the stage is in fact emanating from only three guys. And therein lies the beauty of porterdavis. With just three musicians, an array of worldly instruments, and a collective imagination that transcends their individual musical prowess, porterdavis dishes up some truly original roots music.

Underneath the expressive lyrics and the smooth 3-part harmonies, is a band that was founded on a deep appreciation for the formidable musicians who have paved the way before them. Dan Barrett delivers the slide electric and acoustic guitar along with the lead vocals, backed by the English Simon Wallace wailing on the blues harp, and Mike Meadows rounds it out with his unique concoction of percussion instruments from around the world.

With influences ranging from Townes Van Zandt to Muddy Waters to James Brown, this Austin-based trio is cast into a wide variety of genres. From folk to blues and jam-band to rock and roll, the musical range of porterdavis keeps fans wondering what infectious sound will soothe their soul next.

Dan and Mike got their start by busking in the Porter Square and Davis Square subway stations of Boston, Massachusetts bright and early in the morning. At the time, Mike was finishing up his studies at Berklee College of Music and Dan, having just completed his studies, was teaching music at a nearby school. It wasn't the most ideal stage, but it did provide a space in which they could experiment with their music—not to mention, a meaningful name for the band. Then in 2004, the guys decided to move their home base to Austin, Texas where they solidified the sound of porterdavis by adding a third harmony and the final member to the band, Simon.
