CALENDAR OF EVENTS JULY 17-23, 2008

NOTES OF INTEREST:



-Eureka Springs School of the Arts (ESSA) is offering a 4-harness beginners weaving class during session eight/July 28-August1. The instructor, Carrie Marry, would like to open the class up to any and all weavers interested in spending 5 days at the loom. Perhaps you are a weaver who could benefit from having an experienced teacher at your side as you tackle a new project. ESSA has beautiful looms to weave on or you may bring your own. There is a materials fee but that would be waived if you were bringing your own yarns. -Now thru August 15: Purchase a spot for your pet in the 2009 Good Shepherd Humane Society pet calendar. Go to the Doggy Shop or email doggythriftstores@yahoo.com for details.



-Blessing of the Animals. Local churches will be asked to remember all God's creatures and pass a collection plate for the animals housed at the Shelter.



-It's time to sign up for Yards and Yards of Yard Sales. The two-day event begins on August 1st. $15.00 registration fee. To be included on the map, go to the Chamber of Commerce no later that July 21. 253-8737.



-Drop-in classes are offered at Main Stage Creative Community Center thru August 15. Several class times, as well as lunch options are available. Call 253-8060 for information.



-Every Monday at 6:30 pm: Metaphysical Society of Arkansas meets at 68 W. Mountain St.



-Every Monday at 7:00 pm: 8-ball pool tournament in the billiards room atop the Basin Park Hotel.



-Monday and Thursday beginning at 6:00 pm, Yoga with Jack in The Space, across the street from the post office. There is also a gentle yoga class at the Berryville Community Center on Wednesday at 10:00 am. For additional info call 870-480-9148

-Every Wednesday at 8:00 pm: Poker tournament in the billiards room atop the Basin Park Hotel.



-Every Thursday is Local's Night at the Grand Taverne in the Grand Central Hotel and Rick's Firehouse Pub on Main Street across from the courthouse.



-Every Thursday: ESKATE on Passion Play Road will offer 18 years old and up skating from 7-10PM. Roller disco to music from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Contests and prizes for just the big kids. 253-7762.

-Noon and 6:00 pm: Crosstown Richard performs on the balcony at the Basin Park Hotel.

-1:00 pm: "Caves 101." Interactive cave exploration at Withrow Springs State Park. This adventure is suitable for all skill levels.

-6:00 pm: Multi-user karaoke at Ollie's.

-6:30 pm: POETluck at the Writer's Colony at Dairy Hollow. Tonight's guest is Gillian Daly. Bring a dish to share. Call 253-7444 for info.

-Noon and 6:00 pm: The Hogscalders perform on the balcony at the Basin Park Hotel.

-Noon: 2008 Fat Tire Festival begins with a non-competitve Black Bass Street Fun Ride that starts at Harmon Park. Casual cyclists welcome!

-1:00 pm: "Where Are You?" An interactive lecture regarding not getting lost. Withrow Springs State Park.

-2:00 pm: Live entertainment on the patio at Eureka Live.

-Downhill practice and competitive cross country pre-rides during the afternoon. (A Fat Tire event.)

-5:00 pm: Pre-registration begins at Harmon Park for the Fat Tire Festival.

-6:00 pm: Arkansas Red performs at the Grand Central Hotel.

-6:30 pm: Mountain Sprout performs at the New Delhi Café.

-Phat Tire Short Track race begins at Harmon Park. A Fat Tire event. (This is the 1st competitive event)

-7:00 pm: Main Stage Creative Community Center presents, "Macbeth" in THE Gem below THE Auditorium. Admission is $5.00 at the door.

-7:30 pm: Opera in the Ozarks presents "La Boheme."

-8:00 pm: Dance in the Park After Dark. Dance in Basin Spring Park to the tunes of Little Jack Melody and his Young Turks.

-8:00 pm: Live music at Eureka Live.

-RJ Mischo performs at Chelsea's Pub and Café.

-Karaoke at Henri's and Shawbee's Big Dawg Saloon.

-10:00 pm: Fat Tire After-Party at Sparky's.

-2:30 pm: "Picture This." An interactive workshop creating picture frames for objects found in the woods. Withrow Springs State Park.

5:00 pm: "Bugs Alive." An interactive hike to meet the bugs that make Withrow Springs State Park their home.

-5:00 pm: Pre-registration for Sunday's Fat Tire competition begins at the Pied Piper Pub.

6:00 pm: Shakepeare in the Park presents, Midsummer's Night Dream."

-6:30 pm: Opal Fly performs at the New Delhi Café.

-8:00 pm: "Eye Spy." An interactive night hike around Withrow Springs State Park. Learn about the woodland creatures that come out at night.
