It was a HOT weekend!

Yes, Saturday was close to unbearably hot and humid. Fortunately it did not keep people away from Eureka Springs! Music in Basin Spring Park was wonderful as usual.

Jimmy Wells kicked it off at noon with his incredible guitar playing. If you have not heard his rendition of the 60's Stones song "Paint it Black" you are missing out!

At 1:00p.m. the unique fusion sounds of The Flip-Off Pirates could be heard all around town. These guys were really something!

At 2:00p.m. Rachiel Fields and Larry Brick graced us with some wonderfully Original tunes. Man can they jam!

At 3:00p.m. we heard from Maia Archote. She won 1st place at last years Singer/Songwriter contest at our Folk Festival. And we just found out she auditioned for American Idol and advanced to the second stage! Good luck Maia, we love you!

The day was closed out with the Honky-Tonk Country sounds of Glen McKenzie and the Road Kings. These guys really put on a show!

Sunday we got a bit of a reprieve from the heat and it was only in the lower 90's. There were not as many people in Basin Spring Park, probably since the news forecast was for 99+ degrees.

At noon Catherine Reed played some really great tunes. She plays a mean guitar and can sing too!

At 1:00p.m. Rachiel Fields and Larry Brick were back at it again. I thought they were good on Saturday, but Sunday's performance blew that away!

At 2:00p.m. we heard from the Eureka Street Buskers, Steve Jones and Willy Jones. Nope, no relation. You might remember Willy Jones for starting up the Eureka Springs Blues Festival all those years ago. They played some good old traditional blues.

At 3:00p.m. the day was closed out with the original music of Jeff Lee. Take old cowboy ballads and give them a modern twist and that was the music. Great stuff!

So, if you were unable to attend the past weekend's music in Basin Spring Park, you missed out. But fear not, we will be doing it all over again this coming weekend. Be sure to check the blog later in the week for the upcoming schedule.
