-From City Hall:

The Downtown Network Promo Committee and Merchants Alliance are working with the CAPC on a Christmas brochure. We would like to have a section listing the retail and restaurants who promise to be open. The consensus of uniform hours was:

Open 10 til 8 Thursday - Saturday November 20 til December 13

City Council is hopefully going to consider free parking downtown Monday - Thursday.

If you wish to commit to these hours, please email me asap so you can be on the list.

We will have a business to business website live in a week or two. It will have pages for news and a networking forum and calendar plus some ways to reach the conventions/meetings market coming to ES. I'll let you know when it is up. Thanks! Glenna Booth

-From the Arkansas Hospitality Association via the Chamber office:
FEMA to Pay for Some Lodging

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has announced that FEMA Will Cover Lodging Costs of Hurricane Evacuees.

It is estimated that there are nearly 1.9 million evacuees from Gustav, and countless others who will be affected by the upcoming storms. So far, almost 5,000 evacuees have filed for lodging rooms in the southeastern U.S.
Here is what your hotel must do to receive these funds:

1.

Set up an account for your property via Corporate Lodging Consultants (CLC), FEMA's pay agent, online at https://www2.corplodging.com/ELA/
2.

As you set up your account, it's recommended you call CLC for assistance to walk through the process at (866) 545-9865
3.

Please note your registration online will NOT be complete until you receive your password via email. Once you receive this password, you must log back in to complete the registration process; CLC's normal operating hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (CST), Monday - Friday. While they are coordinating additional staff during off-hours, these hours are the best to call to receive assistance
4.

Note the requirements of the evacuees below, and be sure to obtain a copy of the guest's photo ID, Social Security card (or last four digits of their SSN), and their FEMA registration.

Here is what your lodging guest must do:

*

Evacuees must register with FEMA via www.fema.gov or (800) 621-3362, and complete a disaster assistance application form;
*

Evacuees must present a FEMA registration number to lodging establishment upon check-in.
